Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your account for Aequorea, the art app for iOS and Android and the Museum on Steam, made by Aequorea Victoria. One account is shared by the App and the Museum, so deleting it removes you from both.

How to request deletion

You do not need the App installed to delete your account.

  1. Send an e-mail to support@aequoreavictoria.com with the subject "Delete my Aequorea account".
  2. Send it from the e-mail address linked to your account and include your artist name (username). If you no longer have access to that address, tell us, and we will ask you for something that confirms the account is yours.
  3. We confirm the request by e-mail and delete the account within 30 days. We will reply when it is done.

If you are signed in, you can also close your account yourself from the settings in the App or the Museum.

What is deleted

  • Your account and sign-in details, including your e-mail address.
  • Your profile: artist name, bio, profile picture and social links.
  • Your works and everything attached to them (images, audio, video, titles, descriptions, tools, year and country). They leave public view straight away.
  • Your Art Room in the Museum and the dreams you posted there.
  • Pending and declined submissions.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Backups: deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before it is overwritten.
  • Comments on other people's works and on Museum walls are kept in anonymised form, with your name removed, so that other conversations still make sense. Say so in your e-mail if you want them deleted as well.
  • Terms-acceptance records (the date and version you accepted): up to 5 years, so we can prove consent.
  • Copyright notices, reports and appeals involving the account: up to 5 years, to respond to legal claims.
  • Technical logs and analytics: server logs up to 12 months and pseudonymous Firebase Analytics data up to 14 months.
  • Support correspondence, including your deletion request: up to 3 years.

We may keep data for longer only where a law requires it. See Section 8 of our Privacy Policy for the full details.

Deleting some data without closing your account

You can remove individual works and edit your profile in the App or the Museum at any time. To have other specific data deleted, such as your comments, write to support@aequoreavictoria.com and tell us what you want removed.
